It’s quarter finals day on the ATP Tour over in the east asia at Beijing, China and Tokyo, Japan. At Beijing the cream is rising to the top with the extra motivation of reaching the year-end World Tour finals in London. There are five seeds left standing including top seed Thiem, second Seed Alexander Zverev, third seed Tsitsipas, fourth seed Khachanov and sixth seed Fognini. Former World number one Andy Murray’s comeback efforts took a boost this week, as he won back-to-back matches for the first time beating eighth seed Berrettini and compatriot Norrie yesterday.

Thiem will face Murray today for the fourth time and a place in tomorrow’s semi-finals, second seed Zverev faces American veteran Querrey for the first time, third seed Tsitsipas faces another Amrrican veteran, Isner for the first time and final Khachanov plays Fognini for the first time today.

Over in Tokyo the quarter finals took place in the early hours of this morning and at the time of writing top seed and reigning Beijing champion Djokovic was still on track to win a record overall sixth Beijing title. He will be joined in the semi-finals by the unseeded American Opelka, Australia’s Millman and either Goffin or Pouille.
