There were no shocks or upsets in last nights first set of Champions League quarter-finals first-legs; Real Madrid led by talisman Ronaldo steam rolled Juventus 3-0 at the Juventus Stadium in Turin and the tie now looks unassailable for the Italian giants with the second-leg being played at Real Madrid’s fortress the Santiago Bernabeu. Bayern Munich had to work harder when they travelled to Spain to face Sevilla for their first leg quarter-final. However, they’re European pedigree and class came to the fore again when they came from a goal down to win 2-1 and take a big advantage in to the second-leg at the Allianz Arena, Munich.

We are guaranteed an English team in the Champions League semi-finals as Manchester City face Liverpool tonight for their first-leg quarter-final at Anfield. Liverpool have a long and strong European record and are going for a sixth European Cup/Champions League win, while City have only won once in Europe, the UEFA Cup Winners Cup way back in 1970, but are one of the favourites to win this year’s competition with the best manager and squad of players the club has arguably ever seen.

Hopefully we will see a repeat of this years Premier League encounter at Anfield, which was one of the all-time great Premier League matches that ended 4-3 to Liverpool, and from a betting perspective going for a high scoring match again seems like a sensible option with so much attacking talent on show and I suggest backing the match double Both Teams to Score ‘Yes’ and Over 3.5 Match Goals. The other tie first leg is between Barcelona and Roma at the Camp Nou and you should side with the Spanish giants and super star Messi, who is likely to rise to the occasion and play a major part in his sides expected success tonight.
