Sixth Seed Dimitrov who resides in Group A, got his NITTO World Tour Finals campaign off to a winning start against fourth seed Thiem 6-3 5-7 7-5 yesterday. At the time of writing top-seed Nadal was making hard work of winning his opener against seventh seed Goffin as he’d lost the first set on a tiebreak and faced a match point at 4-5 in the second set. Today’s action is from the Group B Boris Becker Group and the afternoon match is between fifth seed Cilic and eighth seed Sock who both lost their respective opening Group B matches against Zverev and Federer respectively. This is the third time they’ve met and surprisingly Sock leads the head-to-head 2-0 winning both on hard courts at the US Open in straight sets and in the Davis Cup in five sets in 2016.

Tonight’s Boris Becker Group B action features second seed Federer against third seed Alexander Zverev in what could be the match of the tournament as the young German is one of only a handful of payers who has experienced success against the Swiss master. The head-to-head stands at 2-2, Zverev won their last encounter on hard courts at the Canadian Masters 6-3 6-4 and like Federer he won his opening Group match on Sunday evening against Cilic 6-4 3-6 6-4. If the third seed can produce his best tennis today we are sure to be in for a highly entertaining encounter and an upset is not out of the question.

From a betting perspective I would consider opposing Cilic and Federer as the value definitely lies with the two younger players on this occasion.
