Golf

What a weekend in the Golf with another stunning win for Australian Adam Scott who went back to back adding the WGC Cadillac Championship to The Honda the week before. He has now played four times on the PGA Tour in 2016 and won twice and finished second once. He is in the kind of form that saw him win The Masters in 2013 and it is not impossible to see him winning a green jacket again in April.

The problem is that we have now missed the boat on the price as he is a top priced 12/1 for Augusta and however well he is playing, that price is too short for me. Others to play well were Bubba Watson again, another one who is peaking for Augusta and Danni Willett who showed he can compete at his level with a third placing.

Rory finished tied third but was long odds on to win with a three stroke lead at the start of play but when he didn’t make a birdie until the 16th hole, it was too late and all over for him. He just needs to eliminate a few little errors and he will be there.

This week sees the players move to the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor Florida where Jordan Spieth will defend his title. The players who finished close behind him last year are not in great form so favourite backers will be piling into him at around 5/1. Ryan Moore who didn’t play last week is at 40/1 and Harris English at 33/1 both have course form and are a little bit of value.

In Europe the tour moves to Thailand where Australian Andrew Dodt beat fellow Aussie Scott Hend by a shot last year. Local favourite Thongchai Jaidee was third and is favourite to keep the home fans happy with a victory along with Dutchman Joost Luiten. Gregory Bourdy at 33/1 is in form and likely to go well along with Jeung-Hun Wang.
